First remove the transaxle from the mower frame. Move to a table or the floor so that you can get to the pulley. Next you spray a good rust eater, my choice is P B Blaster and it can be found most anywhere, Wal-Mart, O’Reilly, Auto Zone. On top and bottom where you can reach the shaft the pulley is on. Let that soak say 5 to 10 minutes.

This is the best tool for the job you can get these at Harbor Freight, Tractor Supply, Wal-Mart and most auto parts stores price starts at $10 and up.

Start applying the air hammer to the shaft then on the pulley to drive it back down. Repeat these steps several times and the pulley should come up the shaft and off.

Next you remove the grip ring with grip ring pliers or if it is really rusty pry it off with a flat tip screw driver.
|
Clean the top of the shaft with a file or sandpaper so the it dosn't stop the pulley from coming off.
